Rochester Open Standings and Member Meeting Tonight
Rochester Open
The Rochester Open had 62 players participate this year.
Congratulations to Joao Otavio Benevides Demasi for winning the Premier section with 4.5/5. Justin Ricker placed second with a strong performance at 4/5.
Paul Gabrail, who flew in from Ohio for the event, scored 4.5/5 to win the Amateur section. RCC’s Golden Peng had an especially strong performance scoring 3.5/5 in the section. Paul plans to make this an annual event in his chess calendar.
Taghi Ramazanian scored a perfect 5/5 in the Reserve section, giving him a starting rating of 1368 provisional.
A 15-player Bantam section was won by Jason Ballard and Ethan Igel, who drew in the last round to share the prize.
We plan to hold the event next year at the same time. Thanks to everyone who helped run the event: Dennis Mays (Organizer and Chief Assistant TD), Golden Peng (Pairing TD), Jiten Patel (Minneapolis TD), Jack Fulsom (Treasurer), Bertha Fulsom (Door Monitor), Yi Guo and Tera Fulsom. Thanks to those who helped advertise the event!

Tonight we have an officer/member meeting at 6:30 PM, followed by some endgame studies (or casual night).
Rochester Open is this weekend!
The Chess Castle will have Premier and Amateur registration tonight from 6:00-6:45 PM if you would like to play round 1 in Minneapolis. Rochester will hold registration for the Premier and Amateur between 6:45 PM and 7:15 PM on Friday night. Bantam and Reserve sections registration on Saturday from 8:45 AM – 9:30 AM.
