Scholastic Chess
Mission: Provide a safe and inclusive environment for children and adults to play chess and to receive chess instruction.
Rochester Chess (RC) meets weekly in-person on Tuesdays, 6 – 9 PM, in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building South Cafeteria, 201 Third Avenue SW, Rochester. Rochester Chess has over 60 active members ranging from 6 to 101 years of age. Each week, approximately 25 children and adults participate in tournaments, play casual games of chess, and study chess in small groups. For more information visit the Rochester Chess website: http://rochesterchess.com/ or contact Dennis Mays: dennismays101@gmail.com
RC is a 501(c)(3) Minnesota educational nonprofit. Our support of scholastic chess is funded by grants from the Mayo Clinic, US Bank, Rochester Area Foundation, Mayo Civic Center, USCF, and the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation and from individual donations. Currently, 90+ percent of the funding is from individual donations.
