Bughouse Dec. 20.

Hi Everyone,

Dec. 20. is Bughouse Night.  TD will be Golden.

So come on out and get your Bughouse fill.   Even if you don’t play Bughouse come on  out for a few casual games.

3rd Annual RCTC President’s Cup, Nov. 5

Third Annual RCTC President’s Cup, November 5, 2016

Please mark your calendars for the Third Annual RCTC President’s Cup, a free chess tournament at RCTC on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 11 AM – 5 PM.

Format: Four-round Swiss combined individual, team tournament. You do not have to be on a team to compete. The tournament will be divided in to 3 sections based on chess playing experience:

Novice: Inexperienced chess players (no clocks, no recording)

Reserve: High school JV players

Premier: High school varsity players and RCTC students.

Time Control:  Game/30 plus a 5-second delay for the Reserve and Premier sections only. Registration: Advance registration is required for free entry! Send Dennis Mays the name, school, grade, and approximate experience level of the student by Thursday, Nov 3. Onsite registration is $5. Donations are appreciated. Onsite: 11:00 – 11:15 AM, individuals arriving after 11:15 AM will be given a bye the first round and paired in the second round. Half-point byes are available for any round (up to 2).

Schedule:

11:00 – 11:15 AM registration

11:30 – 12:30 Round 1

12:30 -1:00 PM Pizza break, $1 per piece

1:00 – 2:00 PM Round 2

2:15 – 3:15 PM Round 3

3:30 – 4:30 PM Round 4

4:30 – 4:45 PM Awards

The novices will start the first round at 11:30 and subsequent rounds will begin shortly after the previous round ends.

Directions: Rochester Community and Technical College, 851 30th Ave SE, student cafeteria.

Park in the main lot on the East side of the main campus. Enter in the Hill Theater entrance, it’s closest to the lot. Stay on the first floor, walk left to a corner and go right. Proceed straight until there is a hallway on your left. Note the restrooms and elevator. Take the elevator to the third floor and it opens into the cafeteria.
