Chess Club Meetings have been Suspended for 6 – 8 Weeks Due to the OVID19 Pandemic

Chess club meetings have been suspended for 6 – 8 weeks due to the COVID19 pandemic. A huge bummer but it is better to protect our health and the health of those around us. We meet on Mayo Clinic property so we are following Mayo Clinic’s guidelines on nonessential meetings. I will post periodic updates as the course of the pandemic becomes clearer. Your memberships will be extended 2 months at no charge to you. This may be a good time to explore online chess at http://Chess.com or http://Lichess.org.

Matt Jensen and Piyush Mukherjee tie for 1st place in the Quick Tournament

We had a great turnout for Matt Jensen’s Quick Tournament tonight. Twenty players went at it for 3 rounds. In the end, Matt and Piyush Mukherjee tied for 1st place with perfect 3-0 scores. Soren Wiedmann finished in 3rd place with 2.5 points. Five tied for 4th place. We plan to hold a similar event in March.

Next up is the 2020 March Slow Tournament (G/60 + 30 sec increment) beginning on March 3 with one game per week approximately. If you would like to play please register here: Registration
