Sign-up for the Rochester Winter Open!

Tuesday: Officer meeting starts at 6:30 PM.  Casual night to follow.

Grand Prix: Maor holds his lead in the Grand Prix with 7.75 points.   Frank Fulsom is in 2nd place and Tom Brinkmann sits in 3rd.  There’s a 3-way tie for 4th place between Bob Frisby, Scott Riester, and Matt Jensen (already qualified as current champion).

Rochester Winter Open:  Please sign-up soon for the Rochester Winter Open.  This is one of our two large events each year and we love to see a strong Rochester turnout.  It’s also the next grand prix event.  U1600 scores will be cut in half for the GP, and Open scores you receive the number of points you got in that section.  Please email Matt if you have any questions.  More details here, including a link to register online:  RWO15

 

Grand Prix Blitz on Tuesday!

January Slow Chess Recap: USCF Results
Maor jumped out to a 1.5 point lead in the 2015 Grand Prix (link on the right) by winning the January slow chess with a perfect score 5/5!  We had a 3-way time for 2nd place between Scott Regener, George Paulik and Dennis Mays.  Frank Fulsom and Gil Baron both had notably strong performances, each gaining >100 rating points.

Tuesday:  Grand Prix Event #2, Blitz
Matt will be directing the >1000 Grand Prix section, G/3 + 2inc.  10 rounds.   Free to play.
Jack will be directing the <1000 Blitz section with a slightly slower blitz time control and less rounds.  Free to play.
Both sections start at 7:00 and players can pick which section they’d like to play in.

We encourage our regular attendees to sign-up for the Rochester Chess Club and the United State Chess Federation.  RCC membership information and member list are provided on our RCC Membership page.  To sign-up/renew an RCC membership you can use PayPal on the left sidebar of the website or pay at the club.  USCF memberships are required if you’d like to play in our rated tournaments.  Join the USCF link.

Tomorrow: January Slow Chess for players >1000 or who love slow time controls.   Games start at 7:00.  Remaining players we will run a  2 round rated G/25 d5 tournament at 7:15.  To sign-up for USCF please visit https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php, or I can help you at the club on Tuesday.  We will have an unrated section as well.
