CHESS AND CHEESESTEAK REBOOTED

Come for the chess. Stay for the cheesesteaks. On Thursdays from 4-6 p.m., Jersey Jo’s Philly Cheesesteaks is back to hosting casual chess at its one-of-a-kind shop at 187 18th Ave SW (in the small strip mall across the Frontage Road from the McDonald’s on 2nd St. SW). Stop in for casual chess. That is all you need to do. USCF-Rated Fall Swiss Begins Tomorrow, September 13. There is Still Time to Register.

The USCF-Rated Fall Slow Swiss will be a 5-round, G/60 + 30, USCF-rated event starting on September 13. Entry fee is $3 for current members and $5 for nonmembers. You can pay in person or online using the PayPal button: https://rochesterchess.com/?page_id=3099. Prizes will be $50, 25, 10 for 1st – 3rd based on 20 participants. Up to 2 half-point byes are available. Games start at 6:45 PM.

A casual novice tournament will be held with games beginning at 6:15 PM.

ROCHESTER CHESS WILL BE HOSTING A FREE EVENT AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON SEPTEMBER 17

Rochester Chess will host a free chess exhibit at the Farmers Market farmers market rochester mn on the fairgrounds on Saturday, September 17, 9 – 11:45 AM. Children and adults are invited to play chess games and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess. If you do not know how to play chess, no problem, we will teach you! This event will be a lot of fun. We will be in the large grassy area near the music. No registration is required. Stop by anytime!
