ROCHESTER CHESS DOUBLE HEADER ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 17! WE WILL BE HOSTING POP-UP CHESS ON PEACE PLAZA, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM AND WILL BE MEETING, 6:00 – 8:30 PM, IN THE MAYO CLINIC HARWICK BUILDING SOUTH CAFETERIA, 201 THIRD AVENUE SW.

Pop-up Chess on Peace Plaza will will feature casual chess and instruction. The evening meeting will feature casual quads (4-player round robin). Other attendees can play casual chess games and solve chess puzzles in small study groups. Attendees must be free of COVID symptoms and wear a mask.

Park on the street for free after 5 PM or in one of the nearby parking ramps. Enter the first sliding door on the east side of the Harwick building. Press the red button to summon Mayo security. Tell them you are there for chess. They will unlock the second sliding door for you to enter. Take an immediate left turn and the cafeteria is straight ahead of you.

September 2021 USCF-Rated OTB Slow Swiss & Quads

You will be playing 3 rounds either in a quad (4-player round robin) or in a mini-swiss (up to 8 players). USCF-Rated games of G/60 + 30 will be played in person once per week on Tuesday evenings starting on September 7. Join or renew your USCF membership here: https://new.uschess.org/form/membership Games begin at 6:30 PM. Alternative dates and times can be negotiated if both players agree and they inform me ahead of time. Only zero-point byes are available. Registration fee: $5 payable at the site or online at the Rochester Chess home page through the PayPal donate button. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers. ROCHESTER CHESS AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON AUGUST 14, 9 AM – NOON

Rochester Chess, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will host a free chess exhibit at the Farmers Market on the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 14, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess games and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets and masks will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess and pick up some fresh vegetables!

If you do not know how to play chess, we will teach you! We will be in the large grassy area near the music. No registration is required. Stop by anytime!
