LAST CALL FOR JULY 2021 MINI CHESS CAMP FOR SCHOLASTIC AND ADULT PLAYERS!

Rochester Chess Mini-Camp for Youth and Adults
When: Saturday, July 17, 2021
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Where: Mayo Clinic Superior Drive Support Center, South Cafeteria

A team of experienced chess coaches will be teaching the class. Chess players will be divided into three sections based on their chess playing experience.

• Advanced and Intermediate Participants: Coaches Rob Newshutz and Justin Ricker will pair players for G/30 games with notation. Coaches will help players analyze their games afterwards.
• Novice Participants: Opening principles and Opening tactics will be discussed.
10:30 – 11:15
Deep game analysis with Coaches Justin and Rob
11:15– 12:00 PM

USCF RATED AND UNRATED SWISS TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE ON TUESDAY, JULY 13.

Round 2 of the US Chess Federation (USCF)-rated in person (OTB) will take place on July 13 at the club.. One game per week is being played at a slow time control, G/60+30. Each side has 60 minutes to make all of their moves and receives an additional 30 seconds after each move from move 1. Games start at 6:30 PM. Forfeit time is 7 PM. Other times and dates can be arranged by the participants as long as they let me know. Entry fee: $5 (pay at the door or “donate” to Rochester Chess online). Prizes: $100 first, $60 second, $40 third.

Rounds 3 and 4 of the unrated swiss tournament for novice and improving players (children and adults) will be held on Tuesday, July 13. Games start at 6:15 PM. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

In addition to these tournaments, the club will be open for individuals to play casual games of chess.

ROCHESTER CHESS AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON JULY 10

Rochester Chess, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will host a free chess exhibit at the Farmers Market on the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 10, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess games and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets and masks will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess and pick up some fresh vegetables!
