2019 Rochester Winter Chess Tournament for Adults: A Side-Event to the Winter Scholastic Tournament
Mark your calendars for the Rochester Winter Adult Chess Tournament at Mayo Clinic on Saturday, December 14, 2019, 10 AM-5 PM, in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria. Entry is free! Rochester Chess, an educational nonprofit, is grateful to their sponsors who provided grants to promote chess in the community: Mayo Clinic Community Public Affairs, Rochester Area Foundation, and US Bank. The 4-round Swiss tournament has one USCF-rated section.
Time Control: Each player gets 30 minutes (+ 5 sec delay) to make all their moves.
Registration: Online registration (strongly recommended to guarantee your spot in this 4-round Swiss tournament as participation is limited to 16): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeYb74ghkuMvjQDwDH6u_BG6PbokcmV4GVbxQxk2zvoJePxrQ/viewform or onsite from 10:00-10:30 AM. Players registering after 10:30 may receive a 1/2-point bye for round 1. Play starts at 11:00 AM.
Volunteers are needed to help set up and monitor the playing site. Please let us know if you can assist.

Matt has been playing chess since age 5 and coaching for over 15 years. He was a three time K-3 state champion and a three time K-12 state champion. Matt was able to reach the title of USCF Expert at age 13 and is now a USCF National Master. Matt has experience helping students of all ages and skill levels improve their chess game.
