CAMP INFO

Matt has been playing chess since age 5 and coaching for over 15 years.  He was a three time K-3 state champion and a three time K-12 state champion.  Matt was able to reach the title of USCF Expert at age 13 and has experience helping students of all ages and skill levels improve their chess game.

This year’s camp will be divided into a basic and intensive study sections with a series of mini-sessions throughout the day.  The theme of the camp is Play for the Initiative!  We will learn how to create threats that your opponent can’t ignore.  Playing with the initiative encourages your opponent to make mistakes and allows you to easily create dangerous attacks!

Basic – Intended for kids under age 12 or ratings below 1400

Intensive Study – A longer day of instruction for players 1400-2000
