An RCTC Math Department and Rochester Chess Club Community Chess Tournament for Children and Adults
Saturday, February 24, 10 AM – 5 PM in the RCTC Cafeteria
RCTC and Student Life, respectively, have generously provided the space and chess equipment for this event. Additional funding is provided by a youth enrichment grant to Rochester Chess from the Mayo Clinic Office of Community Relations. The tournament has three sections: Novice (unrated), Intermediate (unrated), and Advanced (U1600, USCF membership required). Join the USCF here: https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php. The winner of the advanced section will be declared the 2018 Rochester Amateur Chess Champion. All participants will play 4 games (no elimination). Participants may request up to two ½-point byes for rounds they cannot play.
Time Control: Each player has 30 minutes to make all their moves. Intermediate and Advanced players will be required to record the moves of the game. Novice participants are strongly encouraged to record the moves. Instruction will be provided, if needed.
Registration: Pre-registration is free! Online registration is strongly encouraged as participation is limited to the first 65 who register: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfCQRAmD3xYo0V2zPUNzFYyd5xnt7BOokpPorBGvAcM-7wBBA/viewform?usp=sf_link Registration onsite is from 10:00 – 10:30 AM.
