Based on the positive feedback from participants in the first Advanced Chess Class, we have decided to continue the series during the regular club meetings.

Rochester Advanced Chess Class #2 for Students and Adults Rated 1000 – 1800

Where: RCTC cafeteria

Instructor:  Jovana Milosevic, a Woman FIDE Master with two Woman International Master Norms, is from Serbia but currently living in Rochester. She has played competitively and studied chess for 13 years. Some of her greatest achievements include winning first place in Balkan Chess Championship and South Eastern Europe Chess Championship twice and second place in European Rapid Chess Championship. Also, she won first place in Serbia Youth Chess Championship and second place in Serbia Woman Chess Championship. Jovana is the 2019 MN Women State Champion. She has experience in coaching players with a FIDE rating below 2000 and is now teaching chess in three elementary schools in Rochester and is leading advanced chess classes.

Master Milosevic will guide you through three model games with the following strategic themes: 1) pieces out of play, 2) strong and weak squares, and 3) open files. Please see the enclosed diagram for the first example.

Tuition: $15 per participant payable at the site.

Game 1: White’s pieces are more active than Black’s. However, after an exchange in the center, Black would like to activate his knight on g7 by bringing it to f5. In addition, Black’s knight on c6 and queen on c7 are attacking White’s pawn on e5. How should White proceed?

Positions from games 2 and 3 will be sent to registrants prior to the class.
