CHESS CLASS BY NATIONAL MASTER MATT JENSEN: CALCULATION TRAINING – A MINI-SERIES – PART III.

National Master Matt Jensen will be leading a chess class on “Calculation Training – a Mini-Series” on Tuesday, January 24, 7:00 – 8:30 PM in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building. This class is part III in which Matt will discuss elimination and comparison, two important tools for calculation. Space is limited.

As always, attendees are welcome to play casual chess.

Remember to register for the USCF-rated 2023 Winter Swiss which will begin on February 7. Rated games of G/60 + 30s increment will be played in person, one game per week on Tuesday evenings. Games begin at 6:30 PM. Alternative dates and times can be negotiated if both players agree and they inform me ahead of time. Lead instructors: Justin Ricker and Dennis Mays. Participants will be divided into groups based on their skill level.

Approximate Camp Schedule

  • 9 AM – 9:30 Tactics!
  • 9:30 – 10:30 Advanced players play one game (G/30 with notation).  Coaches will help players analyze their games afterwards. Intermediate and Novice Participants will play 2 games (G/15)
  • 10:30 – 11:15 Deep game analysis of their annotated game with a chess coach
  • 11:15– 12:00 PM Endgames you must know.

Wrap-up
