JANUARY SLOW TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 15.

Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, the January Slow Swiss has been postponed until February 15. The number of cases is expected to return to pre-omicron levels in 5 weeks or so. The club will remain closed until then. That is the bad news.

The good news is your are welcome to join Woman FIDE Master (WFM) Jovana Milosevic’s Advanced Chess Class online on Zoom for free. Tuition for the weekly group classes is normally $10 per person per class. For the next three months the classes will be free (paid for by a donation to Rochester Chess). Master Milosevic is a very strong chess player and an excellent teacher. The classes are held on Saturdays from noon – 1:30 PM: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83873534869?pwd%3DSENKN3crdERLM2RDcUtsc2tYS1Q2UT09&sa=D&source=calendar&usd=2&usg=AOvVaw2G-TU6KSaMCchruwPnHdHK

In addition, the club can meet online to solve chess problems and play casual games. Let me know if you are interested.

Chess Thursday, February 24, at Jersey Jo’s Philly Cheesesteaks

Chess and cheesesteaks.

Come for the chess. Stay for the cheesesteaks. On Thursdays from 2-6 p.m., Jersey Jo’s Philly Cheesesteaks has been hosting casual chess at its one-of-a-kind shop at 187 18th Ave SW (in the small strip mall across the Frontage Road from the McDonald’s on 2nd St. SW). Stop in for casual chess (and, really, there’s no obligation to buy food).
