National Master Scott Riester Analyzing Games on Tuesday

Tuesday:  National Master and Minnesota Master/Expert Class Champion Scott Riester will be analyzing our games on Tuesday.   Free for members and $5 for non-members.  We will start around 6:30 PM.  It will also be a casual night for those interested in playing some games on the side.

Free Book Giveaway:  Jack and Matt will be starting the free book giveaways back up soon.  If you have any books to donate please drop them off at the club.

Free G/20 Tournament Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night

Tomorrow night we will be having a free G/20, d/5 tournament starting at 6:30 PM.  The tournament will be 4 rounds and RCC rated.  Free for members and $5 for non-members.

Upcoming K-6 Tournament

Matt, Dennis and Jack are putting together a tournament through Community Education for grades K-6.  The tournament will be held on January 26th at the Northrop building.  Details can be found on the flyer which should be sent home with students this month.

MSCA Updates

There are MSCA updates on tournament locations and details on both the MSCA and Chess Castle websites.

March Slow Chess

The schedule has been posted for the next two months.  Most nights will fall under one of the follow categories.

  • Casual Night & Ladder Challenge (About once every 2 weeks)
  • $5 Tournament Night (About 1 per month)
  • Free Tournament Night (About 1 per month)
  • Teaching night (Some casual nights will have one of the more experienced club members set aside some time for instruction

Memberships

Many memberships are expiring in a few days.  Please take a look at our member list to check your expiration date.  You can renew at the club or on the left sidebar there are PayPal links.

March G/90!

This is a new event we are trying during the 4 Tuesdays in March.  There is a slow chess link under the schedule.  Please email Matt if you are interested in registering.

TCCL

After the last round of TCCL the Mayo Ultimates (Gold Division) are in 4th place out of 8.  Mayo B2 or not B2 (Silver Division) is in 6th place out of 8.  The Mayo Knights (Bronze Division) are in 8th place out of 21.  Results spreadsheet.
