Slow Chess Night
The RCC is having a Game/90 night at the club on Tuesday. We will pair up by rating and play one slow game at Game/90 minutes. If there’s time after the games we will likely have some analysis. This is a great way to prepare for the Twin Cities Chess League! For those that aren’t interested in Game/90 there will also be casual chess.
The games will start at 6:30 PM. If you might be a bit late please email myself or Jack and we will reserve an opponent for you.

Rochester Players in Duluth

The first Twin Ports Open was a huge success with over 85 participants! In the Open section, GM Alex Yermolinsky and IM John Bartholomew tied for first with 4.5/5. Matt Jensen from Rochester scored 3 points in a tie for 12th place. Dennis Mays had a strong performance with 2.5 points, scoring 50% in his three games against experts!
In the Reserve section Ben Isbell won first place with a perfect score of 5/5. Rochester players Maor Leker Locker and Paul Kinion had 3 and 2 points, respectively.
It was a fun event and I hope it becomes an annual tradition. USCF Crosstable for the event.
RCC Schedule
Tonight we have an unrated theme tournament at the club. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
Also coming up is the Rochester Closed Championship on August 24-25. Win this event and you will find your name on the list of RCC champions!
There is no book drawing for tonight, but going forward we are going to have more books to giveaway. We plan to enter everyone who attends the club meeting in the drawing next time.
