RESULTS OF THE SLOW SWISS WARM UP
Twenty-two players from Rochester and the surrounding area played in a slow swiss tournament to warm up for the Rochester Open. Young players dominated in the upper section which ended in a tie for first place between Calder Nguyen and Cole Lappi. Both are members of the Century High School Chess Team.
Steve Lange finished in first place in the swiss 2 section by winning his games in round 2 and 3 after taking a half-point bye in the first round.

Next week’s meeting (July 15) will feature a game analysis session in which players present their favorite games. Also, we will have casual chess and as always kids are welcome.


FREE CHESS AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON SATURDAY, JULY 12, 9 AM – NOON

Rochester Chess will host a free chess event at the Farmers Market Farmers Market on the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 12, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess. If you do not know how to play chess, no problem, we will teach you! We will be in the large grassy area near the music. No registration is required. Stop by anytime! We hope to see you there.

FINAL ROUND PAIRINGS IN THE WARM UP SLOW SWISS ON JULY 8.
There have been some hard fought games in the early rounds, including some upsets. The section winners will be determined by the final round games on July 8.
