The fee is $15 per registrant; $20 for two or more in a family. Courtesy of grants from Mayo Clinic and the Rochester Area Foundation, full scholarships are available for  underserved youth. Topics include opening principles, tactics, and endgames you must know by heart. We plan on dividing the camp in to two or more sections according to playing level.

Justin Ricker Defeats “The Rest of the Chess Club” in a Simultaneous Exhibition

Justin Ricker defeated “The Rest of the Chess Club” 6.5 – 1.5 in a simultaneous exhibition match on March 6. Justin played 8 club members simultaneously. Each side had 60 minutes for the entire game plus a bonus of 30 seconds with each move. Justin said he was satisfied with his performance of winning six games, drawing one, and losing one. Michael Kern, Justin’s friend and teammate at Lourdes High School, was the only club member to win. Michael will be awarded a yet to be disclosed prize. Rob Newshutz, Justin’s highest rated opponent, drew with the Black pieces. Congratulations to Justin and thanks to him and our club members for participating in this fun event.
