Casual Chess and Game Analysis on May 28, 6:30 – 9:30 PM. Registration for the June Slow is Open.
Casual chess and game analysis will be featured on May 28, 6:30 – 9:30 PM at RCTC.
Rochester Chess will be hosting a 4-round USCF-rated tournament: Jovana’s June 2019 Slow Chess Tournament (G/60 + 30 second increment) in honor of Rochester Chess Master in Residence, Jovana Milosevic. If you have attended any of Jovana’s instructional chess classes or watched her play chess you know she is excellent at both! We are very happy she lives in Rochester!
Play one game per night on June 4, 11, 18, and 25. Up to 2 half-point byes may be requested in rounds 1-3. A zero-point bye is available for round 4. The plan is to divide the field in two sections based on rating.
Registration: Free for club members who register online by June 3 (strongly recommended to help us start on time) or $5 for all who register onsite (6:15 – 6:30 PM) and for nonmembers.

Lead instructor: Jovana Milosevic, a Woman FIDE Master with two Woman International Master Norms, is from Serbia but currently living in Rochester. She has played competitively and studied chess for 13 years. Some of her greatest achievements include winning first place in Balkan Chess Championship and South Eastern Europe Chess Championship twice and second place in European Rapid Chess Championship. Also, she won first place in Serbia Youth Chess Championship and second place in Serbia Woman Chess Championship. Jovana is the 2019 MN Women State Champion. She has experience in coaching players with a FIDE rating below 2000 and is now teaching chess in three elementary schools in Rochester, MN.

Master Milosevic will guide you through three model games with the following strategic themes: 1) pieces out of play, 2) strong and weak squares, and 3) open files.

April Slow Quads have been posted by USCF
The April Slow Quads have been posted: http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain.php?201904306672-14582752 Twenty chess players participated in the 5 quads. The quad winners were Matt Jensen (3-0 score), Michael Kern (2.5-0.5) , Henry Lange (2-1), Dan Ochoa 2.5-0.5, and Eddie Ahn (3-0). Next up on May 7 is casual chess and an advanced class led by Woman Master Jovana Milosevic.
