ROCHESTER CHESS: JANUARY 12-18
Monday, January 12: Chess at LTS on the second Monday of the month at 6 PM, https://www.ltsbrewing.com/
Tuesday, January 13: Casual chess and kids chess at the club. Doors open at 6 PM. Round 4 of the slow swiss. Games begin at 6:30 PM.
Wednesday, January 14 RASCL (scholastic) Meet #3 at Lourdes High School in the Commons. Games start at 3:50 PM. Enter through door 3 to the gymnasium, near the flagpole. Spectators are welcome.
Thursday, January 15: Free senior chess at Apache Mall food court, 1 – 3 PM.

Tuesday, December 16: Free chess class led by Coach Lucas, 5 – 6 PM.
Round 2 of the Winter Slow Swiss. Four rounds of Game/60+30s increment in a Swiss format will be played on Tuesdays, December 2, 16 and January 6, 13. Games begin at 6:30 PM.
Casual chess and kids chess, 6 – 9 PM.
Thursday, December 18: Free senior chess at Apache Mall food court (note change of venue), 1 – 3 PM. Free casual chess at Jersey Jo’s, 4 – 6 PM https://www.jerseyjos.com/.
Friday, December 19: Twin Cities Chess League Meet #3 at Minnesota Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 10715 Zenith Avenue South, Bloomington, MN (map). The Rochester Ultimates and Rochester Knights will be playing one match (G/90, d5, unrated) against teams from the Twin Cities Area. Games start at 7 PM. The free RCC December 2025 Scholastic Chess Tournament was held on December 6 in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building. Thirty-four students participated in three sections. The tournament was expertly directed by TD Matt Markland. Numerous coaches analyzed games with the players between rounds. Thanks to Shanti and Scott for their assistance in the K2 section.

Henry Beam, second grade at Lincoln, finished in first place with at perfect score of 4-0 in the K2 unrated section.

Richard Luseni, a sophomore at Century High School, finished in first place in his first USCF-rated chess tournament in the lower rated section with a perfect score of 4-0. Joseph Bell, a senior at Lourdes High School, finished in first place in the upper rated section with a perfect score of 4-0. Congratulations to the winners.
