Registration is open for 2020 Winter Slow Chess Tournament (G/60+30 s).
Rochester Chess will be hosting a 3-round USCF-rated event: 2020 Winter Slow Chess Tournament (G/60 + 30 second increment). Play one game per night on January 7, 14, and 21. USCF membership is required. Join or renew here: USCF Membership. The plan is to divide the field in sections based on rating.
Registration: Free for club members who register online prior to January 6 at noon (strongly recommended to help us start on time) or onsite from 6:15 – 6:30 PM. Registration is $5 onsite and $5 for nonmembers. You can join Rochester Chess or renew your membership here: RC Membership . Register for the tournament here: Winter Slow. Rochester Chess Mini-Camp for Youth and Adults
When: Saturday, January 11, 2020
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Where: Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria
About the lead instructors:
Chess coaches Rob Newshutz and Roy Truelson have over 30 years of combined experience teaching chess to adults and children. Experienced chess coaches Grant Jones and Dennis Mays will be assisting. Participants will be divided in groups based on their chess playing experience.
Approximate Camp Schedule
8:45 – 9:00: Check-in
9:00 – 9:30: Tactics!
9:30 – 10:30: Players will be paired for G/30 games with notation. Coaches will help players analyze their games afterwards.
10:30 – 11:30: Game analysis
11:30 – 12:00: Important endgames
Wrap-up
