RESULTS OF THE APRIL SLOW SWISS

The Rochester 2026 April Slow Swiss was played over 3 consecutive weeks at the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building beginning on April 14. Twenty players competed in one of two sections. Piyush Mukherjee won the premier section with a perfect 3-0 score. Lucas Sanner finished in second place with 2 points. Ephraim Makelele Kabunda won the reserve section with a perfect 3-0 score. Tor Anderbeck was close behind in second place with 2.5 points. The tournament has been rated by USCF: https://ratings.uschess.org/event/202604280413

The winners Piyush Mukherjee and Ephraim Makelele Kabunda received a one-year extension to their membership to Rochester Chess ($40 value).

ROCHESTER CHESS: FREE EVENT AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON MAY 2, 9 AM – NOON

Rochester Chess, an educational nonprofit, will host a free chess exhibit at the Rochester Farmers Market Farmers Market on the fairgrounds on Saturday, May 2, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches led by coach Kevin. Chess sets will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess and to pick up some fresh vegetables! If you do not know how to play chess, no problem, we will teach you! We will be in the large grassy area west of the main market. No registration is required. Stop by anytime!

Volunteer coaches and experienced players are welcome to help members of our community to improve their chess.
