Rochester Chess Mini-Camp for Youth and Adults

When: Saturday, August 24, 2019

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Where: Rochester Community and Technical College, East Hall Room 103/241

About the lead instructor:

Dexter Thompson is a National Chess Master with over 35 years of experience teaching chess to adults and children. He has won numerous chess championships in the US and Japan over the course of his career. His Master’s thesis at Wright State University demonstrated how chess improved children’s academic performance.  Experienced chess coaches Rob Newshutz and Dennis Mays will be assisting Dexter. Participants will be divided in groups based on their chess playing experience.

All Participants: Dexter will pair players for G/30 games with notation.  Dexter and other coaches will help players analyze their games afterwards.
