RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 2024 SCHOLASTIC (K-12) SWISS TOURNAMENT.

Fifty students competed in 4 sections in the 2024 November Scholastic Swiss which was held in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria on November 23. Thanks to tournament director Matt Markland for running a successful event. The tournament would not have been possible without the assistance of numerous volunteer coaches and parents.

Below are the results. Note that all participants were winners as they had fun playing chess all day and growing their brains!

Henry Beam finished in first place in the K-2 section with a perfect score of 5 points. Micha Cook and Benjamin Riester tied for second place with 4 points. Congratulations!

K-2 SECTION

Kann Demirci and Silas Henrickson drew their final round game to share first place in the elementary school section with 3.5 points.

Judah Rigles won the middle school section with a perfect 4-0 score. Eli Goplen, Ansh Singh, and Benjamin Atkielski tied for 2nd place with 3 points. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Calder Nguyen who continued his winning ways in Rochester chess tournaments by taking first place in the High School section with a perfect 4-0 score. Ezekiel Vangness, Isaac Ahn, and Uriah Vangness tied for 2nd place with 3-1 scores. Their only loss was to the eventual winner, Calder Nguyen.

It should be noted that Calder regularly participates in tournaments and casual chess at the Rochester Chess Club on Tuesday evenings. It is not a coincidence that Calder is playing great chess!
