The Minnesota Chess Class Championships return to Rochester on November 15-16. Compete with your peers! The Class Champs is a unique event that closely groups players by rating. Three spots for the 2026 Closed State Championship Playoffs are on the line! The tournament will be held in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria, 205 3rd Avenue SW, Rochester. ROCHESTER CHESS NEWS
On October 11, 2025, fifty K-8 students competed in the National Chess Day Scholastic Tournament in the Northrop Community Education Center. Rochester Community Education and Rochester Chess cosponsored the event. Matt Markland expertly directed the competition and numerous volunteers helped the event run smoothly.
Trophies were awarded to the top 6 finishers in each section. Other participants received medals.
