FREE CHESS CLASS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS RESUMES ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7 AT 5:00 PM.

Coach Lucas and others will help you improve your chess skills. The free class begins at 5 PM in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building.

Tuesday, September 9: Free chess class for adults and children, 5 – 6 PM at the club. Casual chess. Kids are welcome. Doors open at 6 PM.

Thursday, September 11: Free senior chess at Novios, 1 – 3 PM https://www.novioscafe.com/. Free casual chess at Jersey Jo’s, 4 – 6 PM https://www.jerseyjos.com/.

Registration is open for the 2025 FALL SLOW SWISS, SEPTEMBER 16-30. Three rounds of Game/60+30s increment in a Swiss or quad format will be played beginning on Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 16. Membership in USCF is required (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Games start at 6:30 PM. Half-point byes are available for schedule conflicts. TD Matt Markland will be playing and directing. Saturday, September 6:

Free Scholastic K-12 Chess Tournament on Saturday (9:30 AM – 3:30 PM) at the Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria. Directed by Matt Markland. Four rounds of Game/30, d5s in a Swiss Style format will be played. Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Participating in the K-12 sections requires a USCF membership (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). A separate unrated K-2 section will be held (11:45-3:00). Chess sets and clocks will be provided. Half-point byes are available for schedule conflicts. Online pre-registration is required to reserve your spot in the tournament. Participation will be limited to the first 50 registrants.
