FREE ROCHESTER CHESS EVENT ON SATURDAY, MAY 17 AT THE FARMERS MARKET.

Rochester Chess will host a free chess exhibit at the Farmers Market on the fairgrounds (Rochester Farmers Markets) on Saturday, May 17, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess games and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets will be provided. Everyone is welcome. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess. If you do not know how to play chess, we will teach you! We will be in the large grassy area near the music. No registration is required.   1. Free, Weekly USCF-Rated Slow Swiss Tournament starts on Tuesday, April 8. One game per week (G/60+30s). Games start at 6:30 PM. Casual chess and kids are welcome. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
  2. Free Casual Chess at Novios Cafe on Thursday, April 10, 1 – 3 PM.
  3. Free Scholastic Swiss Tournament on Saturday, April 12, 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM. All grades. Four rounds of Game/30, d5s in a Swiss Style format.  

APRIL USCF-RATED SLOW SWISS: Three rounds of Game/60+30s increment in a Swiss or quad format beginning on Tuesday, April 8. One game per week. Membership in USCF is required (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Games start at 6:30 PM. Half-point byes are available for schedule conflicts. FREE APRIL SCHOLASTIC SWISS: Four rounds of Game/30, d5s in a Swiss Style format will be played on Saturday, April 12. All participants will play 4 games.  No elimination. Participating in the K-12 sections requires a USCF membership (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Contact Dennis Mays for information about a limited number of vouchers for free USCF memberships. The K-2 section will be unrated.
