RESULTS OF THE MSCA CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS
MSCA in collaboration with Rochester Chess and the Mayo Civic Center held their Minnesota Class Championships in Rochester on November 11, 12. This is the first time to our knowledge that the class championships have been held outside the Twin Cities area. Ninety-two players competed in one of ten sections based on their ratings. Approximately half the field were from the Rochester Area. Several local players received cash prizes for their efforts. https://www.minnesotachess.com/_files/ugd/977779_6f567c3fd01045528385954855bc9880.pdf In particular, Tim Schimke tied for first in the class B section, Zhongyu Zhang tied for second in the class D section, John Bitz tied for third place , Anthony Rigles finished in second place in the class E section, Wilson Wang tied for first place in the F section, Johan Myburgh tied for second place in the class G section, and Calder Nguyen tied for first place in the unrated section.

GAME ANALYSIS ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 6:30 – 8:30 PM + CASUAL CHESS.
Master Matt will be analyzing some of his games and the games of others who played in the Minnesota Championships this past weekend. Create a study of your games on Lichess to make it easier to share. We will be meeting in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building in conference room 1-15.
FREE 2023 HOLIDAY USCF-RATED SCHOLASTIC (K-12) SWISS CHESS TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16.
Four – five rounds of Game/30, d5s in a Swiss Style format will be played. No elimination. All participants will play 4 or 5 games. Membership in USCF is required (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Participants will be required to record their moves and use a chess clock. Chess sets and clocks will be provided.

Prizes: Trophies/medals will be awarded to the top finishers.
Site: Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria, 201 Third Ave. SW, Rochester, MN. Online pre-registration is required to reserve your spot in the tournament. Participation will be limited to the first 40 registrants.
