RESULTS OF THE USCF-RATED SPRING RAPID PREMIER SECTION

The USCF Spring Rapid was held on May 16 at the club. The field was divided by rating. The upper 8-player section played a 3-round mini-swiss. Congratulations to Justin Ricker and Daniel Garrett for sharing equal first place. The plan to is hold an identical tournament on May 23. Twelve players competed in the lower section. Three rounds of five were played on May 16. The final two rounds will be played on May 23. Additional players are welcome. Please register at the above link if you would like to play in either section.

Rochester chess will be hosting a USCF-rated 2023 Spring Rapid on Tuesday, May 16. Participants will be divided into two or more-8 player sections based on rating.

The time control is G/15 + 10 sec increment

The site is the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building Cafeteria.

FINAL STANDINGS IN THE 2023 SPRING SCHOLASTIC SWISS

The 2023 Spring Scholastic Swiss was held on Saturday, May 13 in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Cafeteria. Forty-six players participated in two sections. Half of the students were playing in their-first ever chess tournament.

Congratulations to Joshua Wang and Ansh Singh for tying for first place with scores of 4-0 in the Novice section. Four players tied for second place with 3 points. Kellogg middle school took home the first place team trophy.

Fifth-grader Wilson Wang won the USCF-rated section with a perfect 4-0 score. Congratulations Wilson. Your chess future is bright! Six players tied for second – seventh places. Dakota middle school won the first place team trophy.

The cross tables below are listed in order of final score and then in alphabetical order (not tiebreak order). Players who have USCF ratings are listed in order of their rating. W = win (e.g. W17 = win against player number 17 in the final standings), L = loss, D = draw, nnnn = no USCF rating.
