Tentative Pairings for Rd 2 of Winter Slow
Here are the tentative round 2 pairings for the 2025 Winter Slow Swiss. If something looks incorrect, please contact me, Matt, at mwmarkland@gmail.com by Tuesday 12/16.
As a reminder, the dates remaining are:
Round 2: 12/16/2025
Round 3: 1/6/2026
Round 4: 1/13/2026
NOTE: I’ve added a new member and re-paired the Upper section in a follow-on post. There will be no bye on Tuesday 12/16. I’ve pasted the new pairing below also.
ROCHESTER CHESS: DECEMBER 15 – 21.
Tuesday, December 16: Free chess class led by Coach Lucas, 5 – 6 PM.
Round 2 of the Winter Slow Swiss. Four rounds of Game/60+30s increment in a Swiss format will be played on Tuesdays, December 2, 16 and January 6, 13. Games begin at 6:30 PM.
Casual chess and kids chess, 6 – 9 PM.
Thursday, December 18: Free senior chess at Apache Mall food court (note change of venue), 1 – 3 PM. Free casual chess at Jersey Jo’s, 4 – 6 PM https://www.jerseyjos.com/.
Friday, December 19: Twin Cities Chess League Meet #3 at Minnesota Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 10715 Zenith Avenue South, Bloomington, MN (map). The Rochester Ultimates and Rochester Knights will be playing one match (G/90, d5, unrated) against teams from the Twin Cities Area. Games start at 7 PM. CHESS CLUB MEETING TONIGHT (12/9) HAS BEEN CANCELLED. ROUND 2 OF THE WINTER SWISS HAS BEEN POSTPONED.
Message from TD Matt: I have decided to postpone tonight’s round 2 of the Winter Swiss due to the uncertain weather conditions: https://www.weather.gov/arx/weatherstory. I will add a week in January (January 13). If that changes your situation due to vacations or other issues and you wish to withdraw or need a bye for that round, please let me know. A reminder that if you need a bye for any round, please let me know as soon as possible. I will try to inform players who end up with byes so they don’t show up and find out they don’t have a tournament game. Thanks for your patience!
