FREE CHESS AT THE FARMERS MARKET ON SATURDAY, JULY 12, 9 AM – NOON

Rochester Chess will host a free chess event at the Farmers Market Farmers Market on the fairgrounds on Saturday, July 12, 9 AM – noon. Children and adults are invited to play chess and receive instruction from our team of experienced chess coaches. Chess sets will be provided. The market is an opportunity to share your love of chess. If you do not know how to play chess, no problem, we will teach you! We will be in the large grassy area near the music. No registration is required. Stop by anytime! We hope to see you there.

ROCHESTER CHESS THIS WEEK, JUNE 30 – JULY 6.

  1. Warm up USCF-rated Slow Swiss round 2 on Tuesday, July 1 at 6:30 PM. One game per week.
  2. Casual Chess and Kids Chess on Tuesday, July 1. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
  3. Free casual Chess at Novios Cafe on Thursday, July 3, 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
  4. Register for the Rochester Chess Festival by July 1 to receive an early discount. Masters play for free if they register by July 3! MSCA and Rochester Chess are partnering to create this event. ROCHESTER CHESS FESTIVAL, JULY 18-20! REGISTER BY JULY 1 TO SAVE $20 ON ONSITE REGISTRATION.

Rochester’s premier chess tournament of the year will be held in the Mayo Civic Center on July 18-20. The festival includes three events: 1) Simultaneous chess exhibition by International Masters Sean Nagle and John Bartholomew on Friday, July 18 at 7 PM. The simul is free for the first 50 registrants due to the generous sponsorship by ChessGoals! 2) Midwest Regional Championship for Women & Girls on July 19 and 20, and 3) Rochester Open on July 19 and 20. The Girls and Open will run concurrently. Both are 5-round USCF-rated Swiss tournaments at Game/60 + 30 s increment.
