Back by popular demand! Rochester Mini-Chess Camp for Youth and Adults, Saturday, May 31, 2025, 9 AM – Noon at Mayo Clinic Harwick Building Cafeteria
Boost your chess by participating in this mini-chess camp led by experienced chess coaches Justin Ricker and Kevin Gaustad.
Approximate Camp Schedule:
- 9 AM – 9:30 Tactics!
- 9:30 – 10:30 Advanced players play one game (G/30 with notation). Coaches will help players analyze their games afterwards. Intermediate and Novice Participants will play 2 games (G/15) without recording moves.
- 10:30 – 11:15 Deep game analysis with a chess coach of the annotated games of advanced players
- 11:15 – 12:00 PM Exploring Chess Resources – teach yourself how to improve.
Wrap-up
Tuition: $25 + $10 (cash or check only) for each additional family member. Payable onsite. Contact Dennis Mays for information about scholarships.

RESULTS FOR THE APRIL USCF-RATED SLOW SWISS
Eighteen players participated in the April Slow Swiss in two sections. One game (G/60+30) per week was played at the club. Soren Wiedmann finished in first place with a perfect score of 3-0. He edged out Tim Schimke who finished in second place with 2.5 points. Michael Zhitnitsky and Cole Hintz tied for first place in the swiss-2 section with 2.5 points. Cole and Michael were playing in their first ever OTB tournament. Congratulations to the winners!
